they eat their own - they eat their own (1990)
This album was so much more than the "I Need You Like a Drug" single.

screaming blue messiahs - totally religious (1989)
This was unfortunately their last album and they were getting better and better with each release.

dink - dink (1994)
One of the best unsung bands of the 90's. I hope they release that second album that was never issued due to their break up. Their are those of us who are huge fans who'd love to hear it.

bang bang machine - the geek ep (1991)
Not to be confused with The Geek Love EP, this one is actually my favorite release from them.
various artists - freak the sheep volume 1 kiwi compilation (1991)
I've yet to listen to the full comp but the preview track i'm posting was the reason I originally got it. "Vanilla" by the Malchicks was a hit in New Zealand for the band. I was actually looking for another band of the same name that played grunge but was pleasantly surprised by this song.

chunk - chunk ep (1991)
Ugh, why did they have to release this lone 4 song ep and disappear? This was a grungey sounding indie ep, start to finish good.

paris angels - sundew (1991)
One of my favorite Madchester bands, and the only one I can think of off hand which featured female lead vocals. And this track is a fine example of said vocals. You can find a compilation with singles and b-sides, etc:

metal flake mother - beyond the java sea (1991)
This would be there only release before reforming and changing their style and name as The Squirrel Nut Zippers.

besotted - kaliedoscope ep (1992)
This is the lone known ep put out by Robert Smith as The Besotted, formerly of The Golden Damn. He would join Meth OD after this.
beatcream - people stink (1992)
Very little info exists online about these guys. They were a hard rock funk metal at times, band from The Netherlands who released this album in 92, an ep "Bite" and one more album called "Masters of Bad Taste" in 1994.

fifth column - 36c (1994)
The earlier releases from Canada's Fifth Column were more post punk sounding but on this album, their last, their sound is riot grrrl.

bootsauce - bootsauce (1995)
This was unfortunately their last album. I got into them because they were funk metal but their sound began incorporating industrial into it on this last album.

Inaugural post
Welcome. A couple of people had suggested to me I start a blog after viewing my extensive collection of alternative and indie rock. Some were on major labels, some were on indie. Artists posted will range from metal to industrial to punk, c86, tweepop, grunge and everything in between. Many of these bands should have been huge superstars but for whatever reason faded into obscurity, known by only a fortunate few from their hometowns, adventurous music seekers, and college radio listeners. The internet allows us to share these bands music and show them their sounds were appreciated and can still be enjoyed by a new generation of fans around the world. Let's get this blog rolling!
